It presented complete works; some of these were Hallam's History of the State of Europe during the Middle Ages, Chambers' Rebellion in Scotland, Ramsay's History of the American Revolution, Guizot's revision of Gibbon's History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, and Napier's History of the War in the Peninsula. Usually one work would take several numbers to complete, and it comprised the entire contents of those several numbers. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900 Included: new ed. of both History of the war in the Peninsula, by F.W.P. Napier, Part 1; and History of the decline and fall of the Roman Empire, by E. Gibbon (called v. 1-2). These three vols. appear to comprise v. [2-4] of The Historical family library Title from caption Also available on microfilm from University Microfilms in its American periodical series: 1800-1850 History periodicals. Family periodicals.
