Proof of this is the gradual increase in the number of popular legislative initiatives presented at the regional, national and European levels. This new scenario occurs even though its regulation could be seen as a discentive. There is a common mistrust of this legal formulation because it calls into question the coherence and consistency of representative democracy in comparison with direct democratic alternatives.The mere possibility of encouraging or reconfiguring this institution therefore exposes the fragility of Parliament. This article aims to analyze the citizen's legislative initiative in relation to its engagement with the current state of Parliament
La sociedad cada día demanda poder participar más activamente en la conformación de su devenir político y prueba de ello es el incremento paulatino de las iniciativas legislativas populares presentadas tanto en el ámbito nacional como en el autonómico y europeo. Este escenario se produce a pesar de que su regulación podría considerarse como desincentivadora ya que existe un común recelo a su formulación jurídica porque pone en cuestión la coherencia y compatibilidad de la democracia representativa con la directa, de manera que la mera posibilidad de incentivar o reconfigurar este instituto, expone la fragilidad del Parlamento. En este artículo se pretende analizar la iniciativa legislativa popular en relación a su engarce con la posición actual del Parlamento
